Research Kudos & Recognitions
Lakshman Chandrashekhar, Associate Professor, Management Programs, with co-authors, have had their paper titled, “Enhancing Employees’ Duty Orientation and Moral Potency: Dual Mechanisms Linking Ethical Psychological Climate to Ethically-Focused Proactive Behaviors,” accepted for publication in the Journal of Organizational Behavior. (AJG 4).
Douglas Cumming, Chair & Professor, Department of Finance, Sofia Johan, Associate Professor, Department of Finance, with co-authors, have had their article titled, "The Digital Credit Divide: Marketplace Lending and Entrepreneurship," published in the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.
Judy Monestime, Research Associate and Instructor, Department of Management, Health Administration Programs, was selected for a fellowship with SMART-DART: Health Equity: Supporting Minority and Regional Training in Data & AI for Researchers of Tomorrow. This is an NSF program, run from Georgia Tech University, called the South Big Data Innovation Hub. This is the first CODATA-RDA school run in the United States with research teams from universities with the AIM-AHEAD Southeast Hub, the South Hub DataUp program and their expanded network. The SMART-DART: Health Equity Cohort will focus on growing the competence of health equity researchers in accessing, analyzing, visualizing, and publishing data.
Robert Pinsker, Professor, School of Accounting, and co-authors former Ph.D. students Tracie Frost (The Hong Kong Polytechnic University) and Zhijian He (Marquette University), and current Ph.D. student, Jiwon Nam, have had their paper titled, "The Impact of CEO IT Ability on Bank Loan Terms," accepted for publication in the Journal of Information Systems (AJG 1).
Peter Ricci, Director and Clinical Professor, Department of Marketing, Hospitality and Tourism Management, has been chosen to sit on the Board of Directors of The Palm Beaches, the official tourism marketing organization for Palm Beach County.
Siri Terjesen, Professor and Associate Dean, Management Programs, has had her article titled, "Is a Recession a Good Time to Start a Business?," published in the Entrepreneur & Innovation Exchange.
New Department Chair
Congratulations to Dr. Douglas Cumming, DeSantis Distinguished Professor of Finance and Entrepreneurship, for being named as Chair of the Department of Finance.
Professorships Awarded in Fall 2022
Dean’s Distinguished Research Fellow
One round of the Dean’s Research Fellows expires at the end of Spring semester 2022, and the faculty members who have held those positions previously are eligible to compete for the next set of awards. These awards will be based on several areas of research productivity, with a focus on research appearing in top quality journals or funded prestigious research grants:
- A total lifetime research record, with greater weight on top-tier journals.
- Recent (last 5 years) high-quality research productivity.
- Impact of one’s research, particularly as indicated by citations to published work as well as demonstrated impact on practice and policy.
- Demonstrated evidence of work that has strengthened and enhanced the programs of the College of Business.

Dean’s Outstanding Junior Faculty
This award recognizes an outstanding Assistant Professor who is not already recognized with another award (ex: Phil Smith Fellow, etc.) It will be based primarily on research excellence, but will also consider contributions in teaching and service at FAU.
- Overall research record over the last three years, with greater weight on top-tier journals.
- Impact of the faculty member’s research.
- Demonstrated evidence of work that has strengthened and enhanced the programs of the College of Business.

Phil Smith Fellow
The Phil Smith Center for Free Enterprise will consider adding one or more research fellows whose published work supports the mission of the center. The criteria for awarding this fellowship include:
- Demonstrated high quality scholarship and research.
- Demonstrated evidence of work that strengthens and enhances the programs of the Phil Smith Center and the College of Business, and interest in building the Center going forward.
- Demonstrated a strong commitment to students and teaching.

- Overall contributions to the success of the College of Business.

- Impact of one’s activities on their profession, the University, and the State.
