FAU Beta Alpha Psi Wins 1st Place at Mid-year Conference

Embracing Innovations in Data Analytics

Seven Beta Alpha Psi officers and their faculty advisor, Angela Gaze, attended the 2024 Mid-Year Meeting in Atlanta, GA on February 9 to 10, 2024, connecting with and competing against students from 49 other chapters.

Students Lauren Kelly, Ishaa Frank, and Xuan Thao Nguyen presented in the Deloitte Best Practices competition, winning first place out of the ten competing schools in the "Innovation in Your Chapter" category. The presentation highlighted the chapter’s newly implemented Data Analytics workshop series. Through this project, the chapter introduced students from diverse majors, including accounting, finance, business administration, data analytics, information systems, to innovative data analytics tools, creating interest by non-members and evolving the chapter. As the winning team, the FAU Beta chapter will receive $750.

Additional competition categories included "Empowering Community Service" and "Empowering Professional Relationships.” The first and second place winners from each of the three categories will proceed to the national competition at the annual meeting to be held in Orlando, FL in August 2024. 

Expressing their excitement and gratitude, Lauren Kelly, President of FAU Beta, remarked, "Embracing innovation, change, and emerging technologies is critical as the accounting space evolves. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to our chapter's development and are eager to continue putting innovation into action at FAU."

Ishaa Frank, Treasurer of FAU Beta, echoed Kelly's sentiments, emphasizing the chapter's commitment to nurturing dynamic leaders and fostering innovation within the accounting profession. "Through our data analytics workshops and community service projects, we're embracing innovation in accounting and shaping future professionals to make a meaningful impact within and beyond FAU," Frank stated. 

Vice President of Reporting, Xuan Thao Nguyen, shared, “I am grateful for the amazing experiences with Beta Alpha Psi, and I hope to inspire students through our Data Analytics project."   

In addition to the outstanding performance in the Deloitte Best Practices competition, FAU Beta Alpha Psi officers, Tomer Fridman, Alexander Price, Larisa Todor Rivera, and Mary Leventelis, showcased the chapter's impactful service activities during the Chapter Operation sessions.Tomer Fridman, Vice President of FAU Beta, emphasized the approach to community service adopted by the chapter, stating, "At FAU, coming together as a community brings purpose and a profound sense of joy."

With their impressive success at the Mid-Year Meeting, FAU's Beta Alpha Psi chapter continues to exemplify excellence, innovation, and leadership for their student accounting organization.
