FAU Marketing Students Recognized and Awarded for Marketing Research!
FAU’s American Marketing Association (AMA) chapter was recognized as a semifinalist at the annual AMA International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans on March 30 – April 1 for its submission to the Wall Street Journal case competition. FAU was the highest placing Florida university, placing alongside Indiana University – Bloomington, University of Cincinnati, and others.
Eileen Acello, chapter advisor and marketing instructor, traveled with twelve FAU AMA students, to join attendees from more over 300 chapters at the annual conference. The FAU team earned two Honorable Mentions: one for their AMA Recruitment Video (placing in the Top 8) and a second for its work during Marketing Week— a week-long event held in October that includes hosting marketing experts and speakers, volunteer work, and recruiting for the organization.
Three FAU students were designated among the Top 50 (out of 300) to compete again for the onsite Pitch Perfect competition, a 90 second elevator pitch to secure a social media position at AMA Headquarters.
At the conference, we met AMA members from across the nation, heard prestigious keynote speakers, participated in competitions, and got the full AMA experience.
This past year, AMA has given me so much hands-on and professional experience that has made me feel ready to take on post-grad life. Thank you to Professor Eileen Acello and AMA for such an AMA-zing time!
~ Cameron Cisweski, AMA Student (Senior)
“I am truly proud of their accomplishments. This conference was a great opportunity for them to network, listen to speakers and compete with over 150 colleges and universities across the country.”
~ Eileen Acello, AMA Chapter Advisor and Marketing Instructor
Leveraging their rigorous Wall Street Journal case research, the team also entered and won 1st place at the 13th annual FAU OURI Undergraduate Research Symposium for the “classroom research” category. Five members of the AMA team, including Casey Morgan, Caitlin Troxell, Georgina Simonson, Ashton Rodrick, and Cameron Cisewski, presented the findings from their case study. They received the Dr. Eric H. Shaw Award along with $50 awarded to each presenter, thanks to the generous donation of Dr. Eric H. Shaw, Emeritus. With the same marketing research, they participated in the Florida Undergraduate Research Conference 2023 (poster division) hosted at St. Thomas University.
