Congratulations Sybil Alfred, MBA, Director of FAU Executive Education, for being selected by South Florida Business Journal (SFBJ) as one of the 2021 Diverse Voices honorees for its inaugural Diversity and Inclusion Awards.
SFBJ’s Diverse Voices recognizes local leaders and top executives across the South Florida business community for their inspiring stories, leadership, championing of diversity, business acumen, and contributions to the economies of South Florida’s tri-county region of West Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade.
"I am honored to be included as a Diverse Voice among this list of outstanding business leaders," said Alfred; "FAU has strong ties with many of the companies and organizations represented by these leaders, such as Modernizing Medicine, Florida Power & Light Company, Broward Health, BDO and others. We look forward to forging new relationships with our new acquaintances who share our passion for celebrating South Florida's diversity and developing its business talent."
Speaking about the advantages of her own diversity as a Haitian immigrant coming to FAU as an undergraduate studying business up to her current director position, she shared, “my diversity has actually opened up many doors in my career. I approach my work with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds with an open and curious mind. Learning to really listen to people’s stories and understanding their experiences, beliefs, values and priorities has been pivotal to my success at FAU and more importantly, in my day-to-day work of addressing complex scenarios, making decisions, and collaborating with our local business community and across the university.”
“We are delighted for this well-deserved external recognition by South Florida Business Journal as it encapsulates what we here at the College’s Executive Education have known about Ms. Alfred for many years,” said Ken Johnson, Ph.D., Associate Dean of Graduate Programs at Florida Atlantic University College of Business. “Ms. Alfred’s commitment to diversity and inclusion is one of the keys to our success and is reflected in the diverse team she leads.”
As one of the many diverse voices at FAU Business, we thank Sybil for her exemplary leadership and congratulate her on this recognition.
